Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies

About a week ago, I said my sister had been holding out on me. She made some cookies that were so yummy for the cookie exchange that I asked her for the recipe. She kind of put me off a bit and said she'd get it to me sometime. I asked her where she got it and she answered noncommittally, "In a book." The reason she was being so evasive was because she gave me the book for Christmas! It's a beautiful cookbook. It's called The Gathering of Friends.
Here's the Orange Chocolate Chip cookie recipe.

Cookies:
2 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
4 tsp orange juice
3 tsp grated orange rind
6 oz. chocolate chips
Combine ingredients and bake on a greased cookie sheet for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
3 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp orange juice
1 Tbsp orange rind
Mix all ingredients together and beat well. Frost cookies.

I love the orange flavor combined with the chocolate. These cookies are good!
