Cousins' First Day

Today Agnes and Caleb got reacquainted with each other.

Caleb found the markers!

Agnes gives Aunt Karen a BIG hug!

Look how high Agnes can jump! Okay, so she's actually doing a pull-up.

We went to see the floats that will be in the Days of '47 Parade on Thursday morning. I'll post more about that later!

He Remembers Me

Sorry to be so late in posting this morning, but I had important things to do! Caleb and Karen arrived early this morning (just past midnight). Caleb was pretty sleepy, but he let me pat his back. Then this morning he woke up and Karen didn't hear him crying so I went up to get him. He stopped crying instantly after I picked him up. We had a fabulous morning together, and even after his mommy woke up an hour later, Caleb still wanted me to hold him and he even cried when I left the room even though his mommy was right there. I can't be sure that he really remembers me from before he moved to Sacramento, but it doesn't matter because he loves me now/still anyway. It was so great to have Karen and Laura just hanging out in the livingroom with the kids playing around us this morning. Then I had to spoil it all by coming to work.

In other news, I've given Laura the assignment of buying the cable connector today so I can start posting pictures again, because blogging without pictures to go with is pretty boring. Sorry.

And yes, Stephanie, you're right (again), the night light is SALT!

Today's News

I took my Nikon D50 back to the store to tell them to try again to fix the focusing issues. That means I can't use it as a host for the purse camera to upload pictures and Nick says he hasn't found my cable yet. Looks like I need to go get a new one because until I do, there's no pictures coming your way.
In other news, Karen is driving home today and will arrive very late tonight (maybe even arriving past midnight) and will stay with us until Brandon comes home in Sept. Next week, around Wednesday evening, Samuel and his family will be here for several days. Party time!

What is it?

We received this as a gift. We don't know where to put it. We don't know what to do with it, but we felt it was a very kind gesture from the giver.
Can you guess what it is or what it is made from? Your only hint is that it's very heavy.

No, you can't just guess "night light."

Jumping + Noise = Happiness

I bought this trampoline last November when I had the grandkids coming over. They loved it. The daddys didn't. The daddys were in charge of setting it up. One daddy decided he would not attach the "noisemaker" part of the trampoline. Then we moved it up from St. George to our new house. Somehow though, I couldn't find the cord that hooked up the noisemaker. I thought it might be sabotage. Nope. It was just me being forgetful. The other day I went into the toy room to find the Lincoln Logs had all been dumped out. No big deal, they're easy to clean up. But!!! there on the floor amongst the logs was the noisemaker cord! Laura said she saw it but didn't know what it was for. I hooked it up immediately right after reading the directions about four times.
The above video was taken before the cord was found. I'll spare you the after video. I think it's pretty funny that the voice on it has an English accent. Too funny.

The Results

Evidently, people would rather I only post recipes I've actually made and taste tested. So, for Karen's sake, I got up early and baked these.

Agnes volunteered to be my taste tester, since my other volunteer who left a comment from the other day was no where around, but then I wouldn't expect her to be at my house at 7AM either.
The first thing Agnes did was pick out the morsels from the middle of the cookie and eat them.

Then she had melted chocolate/caramel on her hand and wasn't happy about it. She wouldn't bite the cookie until I washed off her hand.

After she took a bite, I asked her how it was. She said "Good." She isn't one to elaborate on taste, texture or appearance. I settled for "good." When Laura got up an hour later, I asked for her opinion as well. She was willing to expound a little more. She said they were "very good."
She also asked what was in them. Up until now, you probably thought that the surprise in the name referred to the morsels (or at least I did), but I believe the surprise is really referring to the oatmeal. It's unexpected, and I'm not sure I love it, but that's just me). Laura gave it an 8 on the cookie scale. I would only give it a 6.5 just because I would rather have a different morsel on it (something with peanut butter?), and then there's the oatmeal issue.
