We went to the State Fair. We got in free because the ThermWise Guy gave us tickets.

Swine Flu

It never hurts to be overly cautious of the swine flu. Maybe you've already seen this. This is not my picture. A friend from CA sent it to me yesterday, but it made me laugh! I hope it makes you laugh too.

Eliot's First Girlfriend

This event happened at the Apple store at the Gateway. We stopped in so I could ask them a technical question. While we were there, this little girl found Eliot.
She took a liking to him right away.
Maybe it was because he was just her size.
He didn't seem to mind the attention.
He even kind of hugged her in return. Kind of.
But when she went in for a second hug...
He decided he'd had enough. "Mom, don't let her hug me again!"
So maybe the relationship was a little one-sided. He's such a cute boy I'll bet the girls will always be chasing after him!

Jungle Jims

Be forewarned: this post is going to be heavy on pictures. She was so excited to come here. First up: the carousel.


Then the spinning bucket-thing. She was doing fine, and then the guy gave her bucket a spin. She stopped smiling after that so I didn't think she liked the spinning part, but when I asked her afterwards, she said it was fine.
I tried to talk her into the bumper cars next, but she preferred the slides.
When two other kids came (we'd had the place exclusively until then), she tried the bumper cars with them.

Agnes made a friend while she was there (which brought the total to four kids in the whole place). They both wanted to go on this Jeep ride, and I thought after Agnes got into the first Jeep that Tiara would get in the second Jeep. Nope, she climbed in right next to Agnes.

Airplane...

then roller coaster.

and swings. This girl was Agnes' personal ride attendant nearly the whole time we were there. The place was so empty that she just stayed with Agnes asking her what she wanted to go on next, and letting her ride it for as long as she wanted.

Nick ran an errand but then rejoined us. He wanted us all to go on the bumper cars again. At first, Agnes got in her own car...

...but then decided she'd rather ride with her grandma. Squishhhh!
A few games...

and a few tickets won....
That earned her a rubber ring, and a spinning top. Such treasures! She asked the next day if we could go back again, but it didn't fit into the agenda. Fun times with a beautiful girl.

Golfing With My Girl

When Agnes was here, one of the things she wanted to do was go miniature golfing. She did not want her parents to go, but she did say it was okay if Grandpa came with us. First she and I went to her favorite place to eat, Wendy's. While we were there, I showed her how to dip her french fries into her Frosty. She thought it was silly. Then she saw the teenaged boy behind us dipping his too! She wanted to know who taught him to dip.

Then we were off to do some serious golfing.

It was pretty hot that day. I believe it was about 100 degrees. She needed a break.

Wow, look how hot she is! We should have put her hair into a pony tail.

She had a great time.

They're hoping to come back for Christmas. That's exactly three months from today. I'd better start shopping!

Bonus Night

Here are a few things we did on our "bonus" night. It was a bonus night because my kids conveniently missed their flight (yay!!!) and got to spend one more day here. This is where I picked up my latest/greatest cupcake book (Hello, Cupcake!- it's so crazy cute!). Eliot took a moment to catch up on his reading.
Then we went to the Farmers Market in West Jordan where we found this very cool park.

Hello down there!

Eliot was getting bark all over his new jammies (their luggage was gone to Ohio, so he needed overnight new jams) so he spend the rest of the time in his diaper. Good thing it wasn't too cold.
This part was awesome. I told Agnes that this place looked like a stage and she could perform while her audience (me) sat across and listened. She started singing and soon she really did have an audience (they clapped and everything).
These are only a few of the people that stopped to listen. The others were around the sides.
We got some pizza and Agnes decided we needed some veggies to go with.
