Versailles, France

One more day of photos, and then you'll have seen the sites from our trip. This is the coastline of Le Havre, France. We took a two-hour bus ride into the city of Versailles, which is very close to Paris.

The following pictures are from the Palace of Versailles

I loved the ceilings more than anything else.

looking out into the gardens from inside the Palace

The hall of mirrors, renowned as one of the most famous rooms in the world

I had a few problems with claustrophobia, due to the amount of people that were there. You can see Bud just ahead wearing a hat. We were told this was not a busy day because the fountains weren't on in the garden.

See? No water squirting from the feature.

This is what our tour guide did on the way back to the ship instead of talking to us.

It was contagious. Here's our driver doing the same thing.

Independence Day Festivities

Laura's here. But after seeing the next picture, you would have known that anyway.

Cuteness in a pie tin, waiting to be baked.

Everything tastes better on a stick, right? Laura is bound and determined!

Hurray, Grandma L brought flags for the traditional parade!

Miss Lovely, herself.

In case you needed a closer view.

Ready for the ballgame!

Hey batter, batter!

Laura's cuteness again.

Side one of the utensil caddy

Side two of the same caddy

I forgot about my cute vase(s). Laura hadn't.

Baked flag pies

These strawberries were amazing! Laura's idea.

Laura's idea.

Agnes and her beautiful braids (I did that one).

I love this girl.

Agnes is wearing Grandma L's earrings.

Just because.

Olive had just tasted the wand of bubble soap, so she was downing this strawberry lemonade to wash out her mouth.

Yummy corn.

Eliot really liked the strawberries.

Agnes is serving pudding pops.

The boys are enjoying the pops!

Grandma L was singing patriotic songs. It was fun! Laura pulled off another terrific party.
The only bad part of the day was when Olive was climbing the ladder to the play area and got stung by a wasp! Poor baby!!!

Happy July!

Now that it is July, we can officially listen to Christmas music, right? Okay, maybe not just yet, but soon. Unfortunately, this picture was taken with poor lighting, but I now have a camera which has a specific setting for taking pictures of...FOOD! Crazy, isn't it?
If you'd like to know how delicious this cupcake was, here's what went down last night.
Me: "That's like your fifth cupcake, isn't it?"
Anonymous: "No, I think it's only my...fourth?
Anonymous: "Oh, no...it is my fifth."
You can find the recipe here. We used up all the strawberries at dinnertime and therefore had none to garnish the cupcake with, but that evidently wasn't a problem.
