On Monday we went to the candy factory, Sweet's.
No, Laura is NOT still pregnant, she's got Eliot in her wrap.

Not only did we get free samples,
but we got to keep this killer hair net as a souvenir!

Due to a possible Willy Wonka condition, we didn't get to take our cameras inside (we might steal their secrets). We didn't get to take our cell phones in, or wear any jewelry (do you know how hard it is for me to get my wedding ring off?). We had to wear close toed shoes, and that meant that Holly had to wear Samuel's shoes, Karen had to wear mine, and Caleb had to wear Agnes'! Crazy.

But, I think the free samples made up for all the rules we had to follow. If you're ever craving taffy (have you ever had it FRESH off the wrapping machine?) go here and take the tour. Mmm.
Samuel and family went home yesterday. Sadness, but I'm so glad they got to spend a few days visiting. Love you Samuel and Holly and Nora and Sara!

Life is Uncertain, Eat Dessert First

On Sunday we had dinner with most of the extended family in Utah so they could all visit with my kids and grandkids (I wish Danny had been there too!). This was the highlight of the meal. Holly made it (assembled it?).

Super simple to make- (Nora and Agnes "helped", so that part for Holly may not have been so simple). Just cut ice cream sandwiches in half (or quarters, depending on the size of your sandwiches) and line them around a chilled springform pan. Fill the middle area with more ice cream (we used strawberry, which was really store-bought vanilla mixed with homemade strawberry jam) and topped with a jar of hot fudge topping, whipped cream, and slices of banana and strawberries for garnish.

Sara loved it and ate two slices!
Except for the part that stayed on her face instead of going in her mouth.
Here are some of the people that came over. Others were either inside or tending kids on the swings and slide.
We had a good time. Sorry if you missed it!

Danny didn't notice the crane so after he noticed it, he removed it. Good job, Danny!

Sorry there was no entry for yesterday, but I do have stories to tell. I'll try to post one later today.

Temple Day

Yesterday we took the girls here.

I've been wanting to come here to take a summertime picture. My goal is to get a fabulous picture in all four seasons. I may have to return for another try. It's still undecided.
When Agnes saw the water, it was hard to keep her out of it. That girl LOVES water.
The first thing Agnes did was to take off her sandals so she could put her toes in the water.

I need to photoshop the guy out of this shot. But I still haven't learned how. I bought the book for dummies...I just need some time to read it.

After we left Temple Square we took the girls to get a gourmet cupcake. This store was called Mini's Cupcakes.
Samuel bought everyone a cupcake. They aren't even a regular sized cupcake, they're mini- hence the name, I suppose. They cost $2 a piece! Why didn't I think of this? I could be rich by now.

I'm really happy to have these people visiting right now.
